A double-blind placebo controlled trial of a combination of methotrexate and gefitnib versus methotrexate alone as a treatment for ectopic pregnancy.

Why?

To assess the effectiveness of a combination of methotrexate and gefitinib against methotrexate alone in terms of the need for surgical intervention for ectopic pregnancy.

Who?  

Women aged 18-50 who have been diagnosed with a stable tubal ectopic pregnancy (mass  ≤3.5cm & hCG of 1000–5000 IU/L) and a clinical decision has been made for methotrexate treatment.

Where?

Multi-centre across the UK

Recruitment target

328 women will be recruited across 56 UK sites.
